Heather honey will not leave the comb however fast the extractor spins: it has to be pierced first.

Stainless steel spiked roller with a thick plastic handle, made in Germany. The roller is about 15 cm wide, with a band of spikes of 12.5-13 cm.

01 · WHY IT IS NEEDED

A honey that does not flow on its own

Heather and honeydew honeys do not behave like the rest: at rest they have the consistency of a gel and only turn fluid when something moves them. That is why centrifugal force alone will not get them out — the honey stays stuck in the cell. The roller breaks that structure as it goes through, and only then can the extractor deal with it.

02 · IT PIERCES, IT DOES NOT CUT

And that changes the work afterwards

Unlike a knife or a fork, the roller perforates the capping instead of removing it: no cappings to drain and melt, and the comb goes back to the hive almost whole.

It is run flat, rolling firmly over both faces. Stainless steel spikes and dishwasher safe, which after a day of sticky honeys is appreciated.

03 · WHEN NOT TO USE IT

It does not replace the uncapping knife

With ordinary blooms it adds nothing: there a knife and a fork open the comb wide and the honey leaves on its own. The roller is the specific tool of very viscous honeys.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

A tool for one particular harvest:
