The insect hotel, a shelter for a multitude of insects
To get rid of parasites and pests naturally, to pollinate your garden or to satisfy your curiosity? The insect hotel is the garden accessory that will appeal to all nature lovers and eco-responsible gardeners.
It offers a year round refuge for a wide variety of insects (Green lacewing, Bee, Earwig, Ladybug and Butterfly ...) which all contribute to the balance of local biodiversity and the natural elimination of parasites of your plants.
This insect hotel offers many rooms: the central space is dedicated to butterflies, earwigs and lacewings (which will be particularly attracted by the red compartment), solitary bees will naturally find refuge in the bamboo cavities (different diameters for each species).
The wood of the insect shelter is treated to resist bad weather and the roof waterproofed with a zinc cover.
How to set up the insect hotel?
Choose a sunny location, sheltered from wind and rain, but also near trees, bushes, flowers and, ideally, in an environment including peat, sand and water. Hang the shelter at a height of between 1.50 and 2 meters, orienting it east or west.
The compartments can be filled with straw to provide a comfortable nest for the winter.
