When the time comes to start making the queen, you will need to invest in a queen catcher clip. It is a very simple piece of equipment that resembles a large bulldog clip. You simply open the catcher by pressing the sprung levers between your thumb and forefinger and then placing it over the top of the queen. You can then gently close the catcher again without causing the queen any stress or harm. Do not worry if you catch a few workers at the same time- the holes in the catcher are large enough for them to escape but not large enough for the queen to squeeze through.
