Details of Overflow Alarm Sensor with Bracket 9V

It warns, it does not cut off. This is an acoustic alarm: it buys you time to get there, but you stop the pump yourself.

Level sensor with float and 92 dB alarm for settling tanks, buckets and containers. Stainless steel bracket, hand-tightened with no tools. 9 V battery not included.

01 · WHAT IT DOES

An alarm, not an automatic cut-off

When the honey reaches the height of the float, a 92 dB alarm sounds that you can hear from the far end of the honey house. That is all it does, and it is worth being clear about it: it does not stop the pump or close any valve. It warns you so you can get there in time.

That is why you fit it with some margin, not level with the rim. When you stop the pump, whatever is already in the hose keeps coming, and in a 25 kg bucket that is several fingers of honey.

02 · WHERE IT CLAMPS ON

Set by position, not by a dial

There is no adjustment: the warning level is the height at which you clamp it. It fastens to the rim with a hand-tightened screw, no tools, and takes walls up to 29 mm thick.

That figure is the jaw opening, and it is ample for anything in a honey house: the wall of a plastic bucket or a stainless settling tank is between 2 and 4 mm. It works the same on plastic as on steel.

03 · THE BATTERY

Nine volts, and out it comes at season's end

It runs on a square 9 V battery, the hardware-shop kind, not included. You open the back box with a small screwdriver, connect it, and that is it: no wiring and no maintenance.

The tip that gives it years of life: take the battery out when the season ends. A battery left in a drawer in the honey house ends up corroding the contacts, and a new battery does not fix that.

04 · CLEANING

The float yes, the box no

The float and the bracket are cleaned with hot water, which is what dissolves honey. The bracket is stainless steel and the float hard-wearing plastic.

What you must not do is submerge the electronics box or hold it under the tap. Wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it.
