These are placed in the holes where the wire passes, so that if the hole is not large enough, must be drilled beforehand with the manual metal punch. 

Small brass eyelets with the use of a metal punch, are normally inserted into the holes in the ends of the end bars of brood and super frames. These permit wiring of the frames horizontally without cutting into the wood and losing the tension necessary to properly perform the function.
