Velutina Wasp Selective Trap Beevital®
Protect your beehives with the 'Velutina Wasp Selective Trap', engineered to selectively capture invasive wasps while sparing beneficial insects
Detalles de Velutina Wasp Selective Trap Beevital®
The Velutina wasp trap has been meticulously designed to protect hives, specifically capturing these predators without harming auxiliary fauna. The trap system uses a liquid attractant, which can be a homemade mixture or commercial products such as Vespacatch or Avispaclac, to lure the wasps. Once inside, the insects are guided by lighting into a compartment where they are retained, ensuring effective and selective protection for the bees.
Operation:
To use the trap for the first time, fill the container to just over half with the attractant solution. The wasps, enticed by this, enter and are confined with no possibility of escape.
Key Advantages:
· Selectivity: Specifically designed to trap wasps, it allows bees and other insects to leave without difficulty.
· Efficiency: The trapped wasps remain alive temporarily, attracting more of their species through natural pheromones.
· Hygiene: The design ensures that insects do not come into direct contact with the attractant solution.
Instructions for Use:
1. Trap Preparation: Open the lid by pulling the cord and unlocking the latch. Add the attractant solution and close it back the same way.
2. Placement: Install the trap near the hives, preferably in shaded areas and away from direct sunlight to optimize capture.
Optimal Times for Use:
· Early Spring: For capturing founding queens, starting in temperate regions as early as mid-February.
· Autumn: Ideal for trapping fertilized queens from October onwards.
Maintenance:
Refilling Attractant: Maintain the optimal level of liquid, regularly refilling to preserve its effectiveness, especially at high temperatures. Normally, the trap's capacity allows for up to 400 ml of liquid attractant to be refilled.
