Varroa Tester 3 in 1 ApiTek®
Detalles de Varroa Tester 3 in 1 ApiTek®
Introducing the Varroa Tester 3 in 1: the must-have tool for beekeepers to monitor bee health quickly, easily, and accurately! This innovative product allows you to assess three crucial aspects of your bee colonies:
Varroa destructor infestation level: With our user-friendly test, you can effortlessly determine the level of Varroa destructor infestation in your bees. The collection and counting of floating mites provides a classification into three levels: low, medium, and high infestation.
Varroa destructor resistance to acaricides: We understand the importance of using the right medications to control varroosis. With our tester, you can check if the mites have developed resistance to specific chemical treatments. This way, you can make informed decisions and apply only effective products.
Hygienic behavior of bees: The cleanliness instinct of bees is a crucial indicator of their health and disease resistance. Our hygiene behavior test included in the Varroa Tester 3 in 1 allows you to measure how efficiently your bees keep their hive clean and remove sick brood.
Technical Specifications:

Reduced Chemical Usage: Identifying Varroa destructor resistance to medications allows you to use only effective treatments, reducing chemical use in your hives and promoting sustainable practices.
Enhanced Queen Selection: Knowing your bees' hygienic behavior helps you choose healthier and more resistant queens, leading to stronger and more productive colonies.
Instructions for Use:
Test I - Varroa destructor Infestation Level:
- Collect around 300 bees and fill container A up to the second level.
- Close container A with lid B.
- Add a teaspoon of powdered sugar to container C.
- Screw container C to the bottom of container A and shake for 1-2 minutes to spread the sugar over the bees.
- Ensure most of the powdered sugar settles at the bottom of container C, then unscrew container C.
- Fill it with water to dissolve the sugar and count the floating mites.
- Infestation Levels: Low (up to 3 mites), Medium (3 to 10 mites), High (more than 10 mites).
- Release the bees.
Test II - Varroa destructor Resistance to Acaricides:
- Fill container A with approximately 150 bees from a brood frame.
- Close the container and place a medication-impregnated strip inside.
- Let it sit in a dark place at room temperature for 6 hours.
- Remove the strip and shake the container over a white paper.
- If the number of dead mites is greater than ¼ of the result from Test I, there is no resistance to that medication.
Test III - Hygienic Behavior of Bees:
- Take a piece of brood frame with 10-15 days old brood.
- Using the spikes of container A or C, break the brood piece and place it inside the hive.
- Evaluate the percentage of cleaned cells after 6h, 8h, and one day.
