High-Density Materials and Superior Insulation

Made from high-density polystyrene (80 kg/m³), the Dadant Blatt nucleus provides outstanding thermal insulation, equivalent to 15 cm of wood. This material not only ensures unmatched thermal stability within the hive but also conserves energy, crucial during seasonal temperature variations.

Robust Construction with Optimized Thickness

This nucleus is distinguished by its structural design aimed at maximum efficiency, with a thickness of 38 mm on the long sides and 47 mm on the short sides. This detail not only contributes to the robustness and durability of the hive but also enhances thermal insulation, maintaining an optimal environment for the bees.

Pre-Assembled and Very Lightweight

Weighing only 3 kg, a fraction of the weight of a traditional wooden nucleus, which can weigh around 15 kg. This lightness significantly facilitates the handling, transport, and relocation of the hives, reducing the physical effort required.

The nucleus arrives fully assembled and ready for immediate use, allowing beekeepers to focus on hive management without additional assembly concerns. Each component is perfectly aligned to ensure efficient and long-lasting performance.

Ventilation and Varroa Control

Equipped with a sanitary bottom board that includes a mesh and tray, this system not only facilitates a constant flow of fresh air but also allows for monitoring and controlling mite drop, a critical aspect for hive health. This smart design helps maintain a healthy colony and reduce bee stress.

Sustainability and Ease of Maintenance

The polystyrene material, 100% recyclable, is extremely durable and withstands harsh weather conditions. It is recommended to paint the hive with water-based light-colored paints for additional protection against UV rays and to prolong the lifespan of the nucleus.
