Rotating plastic disc, 192 mm across, that sets the entrance to four positions without changing the part.
It is the big one of the family: for roomy mating nucs and hives, not for a mini nuc.
01 · THE FOUR POSITIONS
Turning it on its centre screw brings a different zone of the disc into play: the large opening for a clear run during the flow, the slots to narrow the front when there is robbing or the colony is weak, the perforations to ventilate without leaving the way open, and the blank sector to close for a move.
What it actually does also depends on the hole it is mounted over: if the opening in the box is bigger than the zone you present, the position does not close what it promises.
02 · THE DIAMETER
The family comes in three sizes and the diameter is the only thing that changes between them: 50 mm for mini mating nucs, 125 mm for an inner-cover hole and small nucs, and this 192 mm for large nucs and hives.
Measure the hole before ordering, and leave the disc a flat surface to rest on all round it.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
Mount it through the centre hole without tightening it enough to lock the turn, but enough that it does not shift on its own with the vibration of a move. Check that every position covers the whole hole.
