Important: To use this tensioner, the wire must already have minimal initial tension. If the wire is completely slack, it will first need to be manually tightened using pliers before the tensioner can function effectively. This tool is designed specifically for precise re-tensioning, not for initial tightening. Its mechanism creates a zigzag pattern in the wire, which increases the amount of wire used in the same space, resulting in greater tension.

This tool is especially useful in common beekeeping scenarios, such as when frames have undergone processes that loosen the wire. For example, after melting the wax from frames that have been used in a honey extractor, the wires often become slack. With this tensioner, you can quickly re-tighten the wires, leaving them ready for reuse.

How does it work?

1. If the wire is slack, perform an initial tensioning using pliers to achieve the minimum required tension.

2. Adjust the tensioner to an approximate 80° angle between the handle and the wire.

3. Gently slide the toothed gears along the wire. This movement creates a zigzag pattern, shortening the effective wire length and increasing its tension.

4. Once completed, the frame will be ready to weld a new wax foundation or be reused in the hive.
