01 · THE DOSE AND THE SUM

One in a thousand, and no more is needed

Prepare one kilo of 50 % syrup per hive and add 1 g of concentrate. That one-in-a-thousand ratio is the manufacturer's, and it explains why a 400 g tub goes so far: it covers 400 kg of syrup.

Repeat as often as needed until weather and bloom allow normal foraging. It is a product for a bad spell, not for routine.

02 · HOW TO MIX IT

Water first, then into the syrup

The order matters: dissolve the powder in a little water and add that mixture to the syrup gradually, stirring. Tipping it straight into the syrup makes it clump and settle at the bottom of the feeder.

Until the syrup looks even, it is not ready. It is an extra minute that saves straining the feeder.

03 · WHAT IT ADDS AND WHAT IT DOES NOT

The food is still the sugar

Look at the numbers with the dose in mind. These are the powder's analytical components:

At one gram per kilo of syrup, that 2.72 % protein comes to a few tenths of a gram per hive: it is not a nutritional contribution, and it does not claim to be. What the concentrate brings is the aromatic fraction of the herbs. The food is the sugar in the syrup, and this powder neither replaces it nor is a treatment.

04 · STORAGE

Cool, dry and out of the light

Keep it cool, dry and away from direct sunlight. It is a powder at 5 % moisture: what ruins it is taking water from the air.

With the tub properly closed and that usage ratio, it is one of the products that spends longest on the workshop shelf.
